Tremco was founded in the 1950s in Cleveland, Ohio, with a singular mission: create sealants that actually perform in real building conditions — not just in controlled laboratory tests. That engineering-first philosophy has guided every product development decision for seven decades.

Today, Tremco is part of RPM International's construction products group — a global leader in specialty coatings and sealants — with manufacturing facilities, distribution networks, and Technical Representatives serving commercial and institutional construction markets across North America, Europe, and beyond.

Seven Decades of Building Envelope Innovation

1950s

Tremco founded in Cleveland, Ohio. First elastomeric caulking compounds developed for commercial construction market.

1965

Introduction of Tremco Acoustical Sealant — the industry's first non-hardening sealant formulated specifically for fire-rated partition assemblies.

1974

Spectrem structural silicone series launched, enabling architects to specify structural glazing systems with verified movement accommodation data.

1988

Dymonic polyurethane sealant line introduced — the product that established Tremco's leadership in high-movement commercial joint sealing.

2003

ExoAir air barrier system launched, coinciding with ASHRAE 90.1 energy code provisions that made air barriers a mainstream specification requirement.

2012

Puma traffic coating system introduced for parking structure deck protection, with published crack-bridging test data from independent ASTM C898 testing.
